When I think of painting Citrus on a Tray, I think of 5AM. I think of arranging my still life just before sunrise, with just enough light to make coffee and mix paint. I think of my plein air setup in my dining room, loosely blocking in shapes and noting reflected color and light.
Sincerely, I think of re-warming my cup of coffee 10+ times. I think of my audio-book coming through my headphones - I was finishing The Queen's Gambit, by Walter Tevis.
I think of painting in flow - making decisions and correcting mistakes. I think of our dog Sunny trotting in from the bedroom, with Marcio and Jo on her heels. I think of myself lunging to push all paints into the out-of-my-toddler's-reach center of the table and holding down my tripod as Jo ran towards it.
When I think of Citrus on a Tray, I think of simple summer moments and family. I think of quiet moments foiled by the messy beauty of the every-day.
