Lemons & Garlic in Summer Light (4 x 6")
4 x 6-inch original painting
Oil on primed heavy-weight acid-free watercolor paper
Mounted to gorgeous 1 - 5/8” deep birch panel
Varnished & Signed
Framing option available
I have to be honest, this is one of my favorite paintings in the collection. I could probably say that about many of them (given that I selected Summer Still Lives' 15 out of over 50 summer paintings), but this one is seriously up there. Why?
I think it's the warmth. It's the light peeling around the right sides of these objects. It's the shape of the shadow on the left-of-center lemon. Paintings are full of abstractions, and the shapes that make up this piece capture my eye. My eye doesn't want to leave! I just want to state at it. It has a color scheme of reddish-violets, grassy greens, and buttery yellows - a split complementary. Like the golden section, this type of color scheme is a pleasure for the eye. This lovely painting is no exception!
I hesitantly resist the urge to fold this painting into my personal collection. Perhaps the perfect litmus test for the sale of a piece is the desire to keep it on one's wall!
* please allow 10 - 14 days for shipping.
* Framing: Below, you can select :
The unframed version of this painting (see images of the birch panel and its beautiful wood grain in images).
The framed version. Select this option by adding the unframed option, and then coming back to “add a birch floater frame”
If you choose a frame, you will receive a gorgeous floater frame in unfinished Eastern White Pine (as pictured here). Floater frames provide space between the side of the panel and the frame, creating the illusion that your painting is “floating” within the frame.
*please note: When framed, your entire piece measures 5 -3/4” x 7- 3/4” and 2-1/8” deep. This depth of frame is quite deep and makes quite a statement! It sits solidly on a mantle or shelf without being vulnerable to tipping over. When hanging, provides a substantial pop on the wall.
