This painting is an impression of and an abstraction of pears. In my humble opinion, its loveliest qualities are its color harmony, composition, and elevation of “lost and found” edges.

In impressionistic painting, “lost and found" refers to rendering the edge of a subject (found) and then “losing” the subject's edge to convey a place where the subject merges with its background (lost).

I love lost edges, not only do they strike me as the “true” way something appears, they highlight space and light's natural beauty. They bring our attention to the world outside of the literal. They are metaphoric reminders that the “invisible” or “in-between” spaces in our lives (like our nebulous inner worlds or the cycles of emotion that come alive in our relationships) are real, meaningful and full of beauty.

I thoroughly enjoy living with this painting. It achieves many things, but one of those things is to elevate space and light as its true subjects. I look forward to knowing where you hang it at home!

* Framing: Below, you can select :

  1. The unframed version of this painting (see images of the birch panel and its beautiful wood grain in images).

  2. The framed version. Select this option by adding the unframed option, and then coming back to “add a birch floater frame”

If you choose a frame, you will receive a gorgeous floater frame in unfinished Eastern White Pine (as pictured here). Floater frames provide space between the side of the panel and the frame, creating the illusion that your painting is “floating” within the frame.

*please note: When framed, your entire piece measures 5 -3/4” x 7- 3/4” and 2-1/8” deep. This depth of frame is quite deep and makes a statement! It sits solidly on a mantle or shelf without being vulnerable to tipping over. When hanging, provides a substantial pop on the wall. It
