This painting was painted while I waited in the stand-by line to leave my weekend of painting on Block Island. I sat in my car with a couple hours to wait, my trunk full of paintings, and couldn’t resist taking out my easel on the island one last time.
Surrounded by a parking lot, I closed my eyes and remembered sitting in the dunes with my paints, dune grass russling in the wind, a group of ladies heading down for a chilly dive, invigorating beach air all around, hot coffee by my hip, and peace in my heart.
This painting came from that sweet memory. It features cool blues and greens, balanced by warmer tones, and organic horizontal lines that lend feelings of stillness and tranquility.
PLEASE NOTE:
* As these paintings were painted outdoors on a windy beach day, you may find sand particles on the surface of your painting. Instead of removing these particles, I choose to include them. They reflect the truth of Plein Air beach painting!
* This painting will arrive FRAMED. It is beautifully complimented by an unfinished maple floater frame, which provides the effect that it is “floating” in space.
