Cresent Beach Collection

Impressions from Block Island’s crescent beach, framed in unfinished maple

About this Collection.

In early October, I took a solo painting trip to Block Island.

When an exceptionally windy day left me searching for a place to paint outdoors without being blown sideways, I settled into the foot of the dunes on Crescent Beach.

If you’ve had the pleasure of walking the beach in October, you’ll remember exactly what this day was like - crisp air in your lungs, whipping wind leaving your cheeks rosy, the bright sun dancing on beach grass and crashing waves, and the comfort of a warm hat and gloves.

I started by painting one view of the ocean, and then another, and then another. Before I knew it, I was filling my trunk with paintings and carrying stacks of blank panels back to my painting spot.

I was inspired by a viewpoint I have loved for as long as I can remember, as well as the opportunity to explore a theme by varying line quality and color combinations.

Each of these paintings has its own perspective and personality.

May you fall in love with these beautiful pieces!

Enjoy!
