Vibrant Cloudscape (5" x 7")
This vibrant abstract cloudscape is suspended over Block Island’s crescent beach. Bold and saturated but also lighthearted and whimsical!
In the first few weeks after my daughter was born, I felt inspired to paint cloudscapes during her naps (we were graced with a good sleeper!). Maybe it was the times (COVID hitting and becoming a mother) that drew me to a subject that is simultaneously abstract and representational in nature. But to tell you the truth, I’ve imagined a wall full of cloudscapes for a very long time! I loved losing myself in the painting process, only to take a step back and feel grounded by the painting’s balanced composition and harmony of color.
I have loved hanging this piece with two other 5 x 7 cloudscapes, all hanging vertically on a narrow wall:
